I want to update this thing regularly. I really do. But, as always, laziness overcomes me. For the past few weeks, my brain has been on cruise control. I don’t think I’ll ever come to terms with the fact that we no longer get summer vacations. I mean, come on. All I need are three quick months to reenergize. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Anyway, I’m off to Miami next week for the AAJA convention. AAJA, which, of course, stands for Asians Who Couldn’t Become Doctors And Need An Excuse To Get Together And Drink. No wait. That’s too many words. I mean, the Asian American Journalists Association. That’s right. I’ve gone every year since 2003. So that makes me super cool. Or, more accurately, just the opposite. It feels kind of weird to be going as I’m no longer part of a newspaper. I’ll just have to make myself look confident and mysterious. (”Who’s that girl over there?” “I dunno. She’s not part of a newspaper.”) And you know what’s going to be even weirder? The fact that I’ll be staying in a timeshare with FOUR COUPLES. Puke-o-rama. I guess it’s all good. I’m definitely in need of some inspiration. The career is good right now — better than I could’ve hoped for, actually — but I need goals. Some of that ‘purpose’ crap. And a nice tan.
Other stuff:
-The Magic Bullet sounds dirty, but can change your life.
-I would like a pair of cuffed bubble shorts like the girls wear at work.
-I had the best shower ever at Kyung’s parents’ house.
-I never loved the feel of my own sweat until I took Turbo Kickboxing with Dwayne at 24 Hour Fitness in Hermosa Beach.
