At about 11:30 this morning, Matt and I woke up with a startling revelation. Today, for the first time in seemingly for-e-ver, we had nothing to do. No family lunches. No evening soirees. Not a single errand to check off the list. Standing face to face with the foreignness of freedom, I was suddenly paralized by anxiety.

With a manic urge to fill our eerily blank calendar page with something, anything, I blurted: “What should we do today? Should we check out a museum? Should we buy stuff at Michaels and make crafts? Should we go hiking? Should I try to cook Thai curry? WHAT SHOULD WE DO?!?!”

Matt looked at me and shook his head.

“We’re doing it,” he said. “This is what we’ve been wanting, right?”

So today, we did nothing. Well, almost nothing. It was a nice day.
