I have two announcements.
1) It is my website’s first birthday. Happy birthday website!
2) I signed up for my first graphic design course. Each Thursday starting in April, you can find me at UCLA, looking smart and exploring the depths of things like RGB, gradient meshes and Helvetica. This is something I’ve been wanting to pursue for a very long time, but never got around to it. I was finally propelled into action after realizing the current state of the journalism industry and getting a coupon for 10% off all classes at artsdayLA. I’m a sucker for coupons.
I’m excited and nervous. I have a feeling I might be good at this, but I also know I get frustrated easily. And I can already tell it’s going to be a long process. If I want to go for the certificate, I’ve gotta take 16 courses. 16! I’ll be 30 by the time I finish. 30! All the other graphic artists I know have been at it since childhood. Still, it’s one of those things that I have to at least try so that it won’t be stuck like old chewing gum in the back of my brain. So, wish me luck. And let me know if you guys know stuff about design. I’ll probably need help with my homework.

That’s very inspiring to hear! I also want to take some artsy fartsy classes to supplement my knitting obsession but sometimes I realize it’s that I’m just bad at math. Weird huh.
