How we discuss serious relatioship issues

Note: Matt and I currently live with our respective parents.

Me: Maybe we should move in together. We can get an apartment.

Matt: You want to live in an apartment?

Me: Well, I dunno. I guess we wouldn’t get to have our own nice, big rooms, huh?

Matt: No, you’d be all up in mah grill.

Me: Why can’t I be in your grill? WHY DON’T YOU WANT ME IN YOUR GRILL!?!?

Matt: Wow, you just made that word really uncool.

  1. hahaha you’re cute!

  2. Do it! Being in each others’ grill is awesome!

  3. Haha.

    I love this post.

It sounds like a conversation I’d have with my husband. (Obviously, not the SUBJECT – but my non-coolness and his faux coolness judging me.)

  4. Haha. That’s funny and cute. You should do it! :)

  5. Keep living at home! Save money. Then you can go on really PHAT vacations instead of paying rent.

  6. Key words here. Respective parents. Way to point that out. Can’t have people thinking we have the same parents.

  7. re: m@’s comment, you also don’t want people thinking you’re both living in one parent’s basement. together. that’d be super not cool.

  8. lol! I love this exchange, very much how Mister and I decided to get married last year actually!

  9. it is not a pleasant thing, being up in one’s grill. It sucks actually. In fact knowing that a person is messy and living with one are completely different. Getting married, you are stuck, and more likely to live with the mess. It’s possible that is one of the reasons I absolutely did not want to move in with Ivan before we got married. I am messy, he is not.

  10. I used to live in a 440 square foot studio, which is big for a studio but small when two people occupy it at times. It’s definitely fun though.
