If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you might have noticed a cycle. During the last week of each month, I kind of fall off the face of the internet. I’m the managing editor of a magazine and this is when work gets insane. I try to sneak in a post or two, but I always end up typing something to the extent of “FML!” or “Finger-gun to the head — boom!” or “Hold me.”
Needless to say, I’ve been a hot mess. Today, having finished the magazine late last night, I picked up a blowdryer and brush for the first time in a week and they were seriously like foreign objects. Oooooh, Dinglehopper?
But even in the midst of the madness, when my hair looks like I work in a Chinese kitchen (p.s. baby powder works miracles), when my skin hates me, when I’ve been wearing the same pair of skinny jeans for five days straight (OK, maybe that’s not really a “stress” thing — I just really like these jeans), I still always, always manage to wear eyeliner.
It’s just one of my things. You need Frappucinos, I need eyeliner. I feel like my eyes disappear without it.
And it can’t be just any eyeliner. It has to be black eyeliner. Really black eyeliner. Specifically, Clinique Quickliner For Eyes in Really Black.

I’ve tried a lot of different eyeliners. None are black enough. And none stay on long enough. Yesterday, I ran out of Quickliner and had to settle for this old eye pencil I had to sharpen myself (life is hard, hold me). I looked okay in the morning, but at the end of a 14-hour work day, I looked like I had just gone to war. My eyelids looked greasy and there were little black marks on my nose and temples. Hotness.
Clinique Quickliner For Eyes glides on smoothly and the color is so rich that one swipe is all you need. Then it stays put. For-ev-er. Okay, not really. There’s actually a spongy thing on the end that you can use to create a smoky look. But after you do that, it stays put. For-ev-er.
It makes my eyes pop and it makes me feel presentable even when I’m in the middle of hell week.
Totally recommend. Woo!

Thumbs up to eyeliner! I’m with you 101%! It’s the absolute quickest way to feel human! I’ll have to try Clinique’s since mine is nearly gone. Thanks for the product tip!
I agree, I must have on eyeliner before I leave the house. (or put it on in the car en route)
Seriously, I have the exact same thing with eyeliner too. I can forget to put on powder but NEVER eyeliner :p
I love The Little Mermaid!
I still think makeup should be only for the ugly girls to even out the playing field.
If the barn needs painting, you paint it. Just don’t build the barn out of paint.
I have to agree. Eyeliner is the only makeup I wear. I love it. Esp black. I will have to try your eyeliner. Mine is sucking. Big time.
Eyeliner and a bit of mascara are my must-haves before walking out the door. Clothes are optional. (ha)
I heart smoke liquid eyeliner. I have miniature eensy weensy eyes, and it makes them totally visible. Glorious.
Oh, and I go through bloggy hiatus all the time! Life gets in the way. Forgetaboutit. ^_^
I have to try that eyeliner! It sounds like it would be easy for me to use because I can never get a straight enough line using a pencil.
Ooh. I mean, woo! will definitely try. On those rare days I put anything on my face besides SPF 15. My Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner (which i recommend btw but prob doesn’t have the same lasting power) is cakey and old.
Thaaank youuuuu!! I’ve been on a (passive) search for eyeliner lately. : )
good to know! i have early onset parkinson’s or something, and can barely put on eyeliner… but i do like my eyes with it on!
I’m thinking the “woo!” icon is working because ordinarily I would have skipped over this post because I’m a guy. But instead I read the entire thing.
Will recommend this to ladies I know because I think the smokey liner look is rad.
