All tingly inside

I don’t watch much TV. Which in itself sounds like an admirable thing (I kind of want to say it with a British accent: “Television? Oh heavens no, I don’t engage myself in that sort of activity), but in reality, it’s because I’m too busy refreshing Twitter and checking out gossip blogs and trying to read this damn big book about a teenage vampire. But I do watch American Idol because 1) um, it’s amazing, 2) my parents watch it and they control the television and 3) I would have nothing to contribute to the lunch conversation at my workplace if I didn’t. I’m glad it’s part of my life because of moments like this:

Look at that face! Isn’t it the cutest patootiest thing you’ve ever seen? I must admit, I don’t think he should win it all and I haven’t always been a crazy fan because you know, there’s Adam, who’s like holy wowza, and then there’s Anoop, who I’m sort of programed to root for because as my parents always say, “Asian Alert!” but for this moment, can we all just watch Kris Allen one more time and swoon? Heeeee.

Also, that song! It’s so lovely. It’s called “Falling Slowly” and it’s from the indie film Once, which I gotta say, despite all the internet acclaim, totally bored me. It was so slow and her nose was so big! But the music was charming, especially this song. Check out the soundtrack.

Y’all watch Idol, right? Who should win?

  1. I’m a fan of Adam of course :p I barely watch Idols these days. Really, really should fall back into it again ;)

  2. I can’t answer because I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, but I did want to say that Brits LUV their telly. Especially American drama series. American Idol not so much, because they have X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

  3. i’m not watching idol this season but from the clips i’ve seen online or elsewhere, i like the young chick with the bright red hair. she seems cool.

as for the boys? i have no idea what any of their names are except for the eyeliner dude.

  4. My dad LOVES American Idol and like you said, the parents control the tv so now I watch. I really like Allison, Adam and Matt. But I’ve got this special place in my heart for Anoop. He swept my heart when he sang the Bobby Brown classic “My Prerogative.” I am in love.

  5. Kris Allen is my FAVORITE!!!!! I lub him. omg. He came from outta nowhere and now he’s like BAM, I WIN! I also like Matt and Allison. But yeah, I think Kris is the most talented!! w00t!

  6. I don’t watch Idol (gasp), but I’m not shamed at the lunch table, either. Root for Anoop. Partly because it rhymes, but mostly because he went to my alma mater (UNC) and I get official university emails about it at least twice a week.

  7. Anoop Dogg rocks my world, but I really like the girl with the red hair too. The guy you put a video up of makes too many funny faces when he sings! Adam tries way to hard to be a rock star, although he has a amazing voice—kinda over the whole emo deal.

  8. oh man i can’t watch american idol any more. it’s only fun to me during the try outs, those are classic.

  9. Adam is amazing, and I think he should win, but I think Kris is a cutie. I kind of wanna pick him up and cuddle him a little. That IS a great song. What was the theme this week? Anybody know?

  10. You know, I completely discounted Kris Allen at the beginning of the season. I thought he was unmemorable except that he looks like a grown up, less gay David Archuleta. But he continues to surprise me, and I thought this performance was phenomenal. Alison really is the best in the Idol world, though. She’s young, likeable, and has natural, raw talent that’s ever-so-slightly edgy. Like an up-to-date Kelly Clarkson. Adam has amazing vocals, but I can’t stand the guy. Simon says it best… I believe “rocky horror” was thrown into the mix recently. I do fear that America will vote Adam though, because, well, America likes to make dumb decisions.

  11. loved it. I have not watched much since Kelly Clarkson – we watched that whole season AND went to the concert.
