This wonderful wedding blog I read, Green Wedding Shoes, is all about movie inspiration this week, in celebration of the Oscars. So far, they’ve featured wedding details drawn from “Up,” “(500) Days of Summer” and “I Love You, Man.” Lots of creative ideas.
The wheels in my brain started spinning (squeakily) and I thought, you know what would be cool? A wedding inspired by “Juno,” one of my favorite movies ever. It would be quirky, memorable and fun. And no, the bride doesn’t have to be a knocked-up teen.
So I decided to make an inspiration board—my first one ever! Here, I present to you, a “Juno”-inspired wedding:
The wedding would include:
- Mini sliders as appetizers, inspired by Juno’s awesome hamburger phone. (I have one.)
- SunnyD cocktails.
- Orange Tic Tacs as favors. I even found a site that sells personalized Tic Tac boxes.
- Chucks, striped socks and pipes for the groom and groomsmen.
- Hanging polaroids. I don’t think polaroids were in the film, but they just seem “Juno”-ish, dontcha think?
- Custom illustrations by Etsy seller Nan Lawson, to be printed on invitations or programs or napkins. Inspired by the film’s illustrated opening credits.
- Green grass, inspired by the high school field.
- “Makers Mark up!”
- Songs from the “Juno” soundtrack. The music is so sweet and charming. I’m hoping to incorporate a song or two into our own wedding somehow.
What do you think?
P.S. Shut up. I was bored today.
P.P.S. Have I gone over the edge?

!!! My first thought when I saw this, seriously, was “OH MY GOD THIS MAKES ME THINK ABOUT CHANGING MY PLANS TO ELOPE.”
love this!! so cute! my favorite is the Polaroids, which is the least-juno part of it…and the color scheme!
SO cute!!! Little baby burgers!!!
Very cute!
Sunny D cocktails? FUN!
That’s cute! Now I want to see a Juno wedding!
please have burger phones as favors! jk…sort of.
love this inspiration board too!
Super cute ideas! Love it Michelle. :)
A) I read “bored” as “born” and was about to say Happy Birthday. Whoops.
B) I am completely in support of this kind of wedding.
*Awesome*. Seriously, that is a great idea. All you have to do now is get knocked up (or at least *somebody* in the wedding party should be). And also? Where’s the teeny tiny running shorts. Otherwise, I think you’re set.
oh this is so cute, i love it. love the grass and the sliders, that would be so cute and fun and very junoesque.
You probably have gone over the edge, but this is super cute nonetheless. I love the soundtrack. It makes me happy. :-)
I’ve seriously considered buying a hamburger phone…although I think I’d be disappointed if I didn’t have to shake it.
You forgot the maternity wedding dress.
Considering my complete obsession with this movie, I adore this idea! Maybe toss in a movie montage of scary films and perhaps someone rocking a Harmony, and you’re good to go.
I love some of the personalized ideas you are taking from the movie – I wish my own wedding had a bit more personality to it.
Have you checked out Young House Love? They have a whole page showcasing their backyard wedding, and they had a lot of great ideas. Some of the things you listed made me think of them since they’re similar.
i LOVE the hanging polaroids idea and tic-tacs!!
If you’ve gone over the edge, it’s the edge of Awesome! I love it!!!
P to the S- Blog Awardness for yoooooooou over at my place. ^_^
LOL I find it charming and cute, especially for a small intimate wedding. With a singer and a guitar player on a small stage just singing around while guests munching on mini hamburgers :)
Aww, I love the idea! We have the Juno soundtrack in the car for day trips. Very cutesy-romantic :) And um, little sliders are ALWAYS good! They had them at the last wedding I went to.
