Matt: OK, let’s lay them out on the ground and spray paint them.
Me: No! We should handpaint each one individually.
Matt: That will take forever! And there’ll be streaks.
Me: But we can sit at the table together, paint and have conversation. It’ll be so fun! And the streaks will show that they were made with love.
Matt: Sigh. Fine
Two hours later, with kinks in our neck, paint in our fingernails and sweat on our foreheads on this hot summer night—we should have done it his way.
