EA Sports Active is working.
While I don’t own a scale and don’t plan on getting one (I use the much more accurate “How much would I give to unbutton my pants right now?” test), I can tell that I’m a shrinking lady. This cute plaid dress I have from Roxy (shut up) baaaarely fit last summer, but now I can frolic around in it with ease. Matt even gave me a compliment, sort of (“You’re reaching your skinny potential.”) And get this: On my abs, there is a line — and no, I don’t mean a fold. I have a two pack! You can see it in the light. Swear.
Though I must say, I’ve been kind of annoyed because I feel like I want to see more exercises. I can be a major whiny pants throughout the session, blurting out things like, “Lunges again?! But we JUST DID lunges!” But after thinking about it, I realize that this program incorporates the exercises that work. The squat. The shoulder press. The kick-up. These fitness staples have been around since the beginning of time and they’ve stayed around not because they’re particularly exciting, but because they’re effective.
And it’s not like the program doesn’t bring in new exercises regularly — it totally does. The boxing sets suddenly became more challenging and more awesome as they’re now a super-fun mixture of jabs, cross-jabs, kicks and knee-kicks. I like basketball because I can pretend I’m Kobe (ilovehim). There’s also volleyball, pitching and catching.
What I continue to appreciate about EA Sports Active is how doable it is. In the span of 40 minutes tops, you get a sweaty, flab-blasting workout in the comfort of your own home. I definitely want to supplement the program with other physical activities this summer (something outdoorsy — I really need to get out more), but EA Sports Active is a great base, a perfect way to jump start your routine.
How are you keeping up?

I really want to try this out. I run most days, but this sounds way more fun (and less tedious).

Wooooaaaa congrats to you! Work outs do feel painful but seeing the results, must be the nicest feeling in the world :)

I’m not doing EA sports, but I am trying out Dance Dance Revolution for size. It’s good times, for sure. If you ever want to go hiking, gimme holler, I’d be down.

I’m jealous! I’m trying by eating SUPER healthy for breakfast and lunch (and dinner during the week… but I give myself weekends) and walking 2 miles each way to work.
And drinking less. Only that hasn’t happened so much. Whoops…

I need to get this program thing you’ve got!
I recently took up a 1-hr long once a week ballet/jazz class for adult beginners. It’s a relatively easy and effective workout, and once you get over the weirdness of parents of little dancers staring at you through the waiting room window… it’s quite enjoyable.

yay for buff michelle! I missed about a week, so when I went back on yesterday, it sadly informed me that I would not be able to complete the 30 day challenge in 30 days. Oh well. still trekking along. Inline Skating still kicks my ass and my trainer definitely likes to remind me that I’m not quite keeping up with that exercise. :)

Go you! That’s awesome it is working so well! I need to get back into a routine again. It’s so bad that once you stop it’s so much harder to start up again. I need to remember this so that I just don’t stop.
